This facility, developed with funding primarily from LSU CAPITAL supplemented with funding from the Schlieder Chair (CVOC) is perhaps the centerpiece of the CVOC strategy and it serves as the enabling or support element for many of its programs. A good bit of effort was expended in the past year in design and implementation of the facility. It is designed as a corporate boardroom or executive support facility and equipped with the latest hardware and software to facilitate its purpose and programs. While the facility is not completely finished, testing of its capabilities has begun, as have initial projects that are designed to bring it to full operational status. Representative pictures are included here to provide an orientation to its form and structure.
The primary installed software packages in the DECIDE Room are the Microsoft Office Suite, Synchroeyes (control software) and most importantly Group Systems. This software, developed over a period of years at the University of Arizona, provides the capability for advanced research in group decision processes and information support as well as deceptive communication and biased decision structures. It also allows links with the leading research universities in the country that focus on group decision support systems (GDSS) research. Currently, discussions are underway with associated and other interested faculty in designing research projects that will be completed in the room.
